This is a video about myself.
It is quite embarrasing to introduce myself but I hope that this video is helpful to you to get to know me better.

Tips for traveling overseas

By Lim Ju-won

Before traveling overseas, you may need to get the following vaccinations and anti-malarial medication.

To get the most benefit, see a doctor at least two weeks before your trip to allow time for your vaccines to take effect and to start taking medicine to prevent malaria, if you need it. Even if you have less than two weeks before you leave, you should still visit a clinic.

Your doctor will determine what you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, the countries you will be visiting, the disease risk at your destination and your planned itinerary.

Routine vaccinations such as measles, mumps, rubella (MMR); diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus (DPT); and polio are recommended if you are not up-to-date with routine shots.

You should consider optional vaccinations if you are traveling to countries with intermediate to high levels of endemic transmission diseases such as hepatitis A and B, typhoid or Japanese encephalitis.

Hepatitis A virus (HAV) is transmitted through contaminated food and water. For permanent immunity, Hepatitis A vaccine is given as two shots, with the second shot given six to 12 months after the first. But a single dose of hepatitis A vaccine given at any time before travel will provide adequate protection against HAV.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is transmitted via infected blood or bodily fluids, and can be transmitted by unprotected penetrative sex with someone who is infectious. The vaccine schedule consists of three shots given at 0, 1 and six months. If you don't have enough time to receive the full vaccine series before departure, an accelerated schedule can be used at 0, 7, 21 days. In this situation, a booster dose should be given at 6 months to promote long-term immunity. And even one or two doses will give some protection to most healthy persons.

Typhoid fever is most often acquired through consumption of contaminated water or food. One dose of typhoid vaccine should be administered intramuscularly two weeks before expected exposure.

You can get malaria from the bite of a mosquito infected with the parasite. To prevent this disease, you should take prescribed anti-malarial drugs and protect yourself against mosquito bites.

Recommendations for drugs to prevent malaria differ by the country you are going to travel to.

In some countries, Chloroquine is not an effective anti-malaria drug. So you should not take this medicine to prevent malaria in this region. Several medications such as atovaquone, proguanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine are available for chemoprophylaxis in these areas.

No vaccination and anti-malarial drug are 100 percent protective and must be combined with the use of personal hygiene and protective measures.

Being late for appointment is the last thing I want to do.

Today, I was late for appointment with professor woods.
I totally forgot about the appointment and went home.
Fortunately, I suddenly remind myself that I have an appointment at 3:30.
Thankfully, I arrived to his office at 3:45.
I never ran that fast for more than years.
I ran from Huksuk station to his office in 7 minutes.
Trust me, It was not my best day ever.

After the appointment, I went to the hospital to get a type B hepatitis.
It was not a good feeling to get a shot after exhausting moment with  my leg problem.
I don't know why but these day I have trouble going up and down stairs.
Whenever I walk in the stairs, I have pain with scream. It means that I have a lot of pain.
Until now, I had no enough time to visit hospital for that, but I feel like I have to make time to do that.

Students seek class boycotts for tuition cut

By Lee Hyo-sik

Students from major private universities are threatening joint class boycotts, forming alliances with civic groups and holding candlelit rallies in their campaign to cut tuition costs by half.

Student leaders at Korea University and three other private schools in Seoul held a joint press conference at Ewha Womans University in western Seoul Tuesday, demanding President Lee Myung-bak deliver on a campaign pledge to halve tuition.

Their move, supported by even some lawmakers from the ruling Grand National Party, is emerging as a major political and social issue.

They said they will jointly push for a one-day class boycott on June 10 as a show of their determination to have costs of university education dramatically slashed.

The four schools involved are Korea, Ewha Womans, Sogang and Sookmyung Women’s universities.

Student leaders said they will hold a ballot on either June 8 or 9 for all registered students to decide whether to hold the one-day boycott.

If the majority of students approve of the action, they will collectively refuse to attend classes scheduled between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on June 10 and take part in a nighttime candlelit rally in downtown Seoul. June 10 is the 24th anniversary of the 1987 democratization movement that triggered democratic reforms.

“It’s been over three years since university students hit the streets, with some of them shaving their heads to demand the Lee administration keep its promise of halving university tuition. But the government has been lying to us for all these years,” Sogang University student council President Kim Jun-han and three other leaders said in a joint statement.

They said skyrocketing tuition does not affect only a small number of students.

“It is an issue involving all university students. Only if all of us join forces can we bring about results. Now it is time for us to boycott classes and take our cause to the streets as the world watches us,” the statement said.

The move came days after student leaders at Hanshin University in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, organized a one-day boycott of classes, which largely failed to achieve its intended goal.

On June 2, the university’s student council asked students not to attend classes in protest of the school’s decision to raise tuition. But most students attended lectures.

Hanshin students and school management have been at odds over the tuition hike for this year. Students wanted tuition to be frozen at last year’s level, while the school wanted to increase it by 3.4 percent.

Members of the Korean University Student Association and various liberal civic groups held candlelit rallies at Gwanghwamun Plaza, central Seoul, Tuesday, for the 10th straight day despite warnings from the city and police.

The city administration refused to grant permission to rally organizers earlier, arguing the gathering could turn violent and cause inconvenience to citizens.

The Democratic Party (DP) and other opposition parties along with civic groups have been supporting the students.

Among the civic groups expressing solidarity for the drive to cut tuition are the Korean Teachers and Education Workers’ Union, the National Association of Parents for Cham-Education, the People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, and religious groups.

On June 6, DP Chairman Sohn Hak-kyu and other key party officials participated in a rally with civic group members in support of the protesting students. Sohn told demonstrators that the opposition party will find a way to cut university tuition by half.

JU JUM!!!!! = pub, bar, and public house.

There was a JU JUM in my major group, English education at 5/25 on the first day of festival.
English education students had a blast time together.
I was in charge of Pa jun which is a Korean tradition way of pizza.
It has a lot of nutrition so it is a healthy food.
Probably, I made about 10kg of pa jun dough with flour, eggs, water, onion, pumpkins, and chives.
I burned some of it so I could not sell it, but it was still tasty.
My partners were Ho un, Yong gu, and Yun goung.
We had had trimmed all the materials so that we can be prepared at time when Ju jum starts.
While I was preparing for Ju Jum, my clothes were messed up and I had to change it.
However, I didn't really mind it. I just thought that it is all the process of doing Ju jum so I just enjoyed everything.

•Talk about developing your self-access learning blog. What functions and resources are you interested in?
•What barriers do you perceive? What do you attempt to especially emphasize in designing your SALB?
•Write and submit the details of your SALB plan on your blog. Your plan should include:
◦Purpose
◦Organizations (subcategories)
◦List of Links in each category
◦Planning (how to use it)

First, I have been updating my blog every week with a designated topic. Whenever I have time to upload a journal, I write a short story. I also decorate blog as if this blog is one of my house. I am interesting in all about making blog. In my life, I have tried several times to create my own blog or homepage, but I failed every single time I tried. Therefore, making self-access learning blog is one of my lucky chances I have.
The only obstacle I face during creating the blog is lack of technological knowledge. I am not that close with computer. It is not because that I am a girl. It is just because I don't need computer so I don't use it as usual as others. When I heard that this class will be taught by using computer, I felt two different feelings. One is that I will be extremely struggling to do well in this class and the other one is that this is fortunate opportunity to learn how to use computer without braking it.
I don't know whether this is appropriate to call time as my barrier. I am not grumbling about assignment that professors are giving but I really have not had enough time to make this blog a better one. I spend about four hours in a bus to commute and I take 6 hours of classes on average every day. This only leaves me 4 hours to do homework if I subtract 2 hours of meal time. I hope that someone would understand me and do not consider me as a lazy student.
The purpose of making this blog is to learn an effective way to teach students. By creating the blog, I can use this as a material for teaching. Also, during making process, I am accustomed to use English in writing because I had to write journals in English. In
The organizations of this blog is complicated which means that I applied lots of new skills and software in the blog. There are HTML/javascript, icons from widget, page heads, search box, lists of links and, profile.
I have a list of my favorite sites; Watch drama from Mgoon.com, listen to the music from Youtube and search from Naver. I also linked bbclearningenglish.com to get used to usage of english. Moreover, there are a plenty of sites that can help students to learn English with ease.
Even if there will be no one who is going to keep checking me to posting blog anymore, I am planning to continue blogging. I mentioned several times that this is my first time I have ever made blog and keep posting. Therefore, this blog means a lot to me. Even though I have to quite a lot of effort to do that but I am ready for it.

I feel grateful to professor who planned this class and put many efforts to help students like me to make the blog.

Jessie J - Nobody's perfect

This song is awesome. I just love the lyrics that says everyboy makes mistakes. It is true!!
Therefore whenever I feel guilt by making mistakes I listen to this song and make me feel better.

Option 1: Do you do Cyworld? Tell me how you do. Explain what you you like about Cyworld (strengths) and what you do not like about it (Weaknesses)

Yes, I do. However, I do not do it often. Whenever my friends force me to do it, I check my Cyworld homepage.

Cyworld is famous for its functions like finding friends and sending messages to friend in free. You can find anybody with a little bit of information such as birth day, gender, age, and name. I once read an article about this function that because of it, it became easy for many people to find their first love or reunite with old friends. There is also visitor’s book so if I want to leave message or have conversation with friends, I can use it as a tool without spending any money. In addition, it makes sharing a file convenient. All I have to do is just upload a file and let others download it. I can easily surf around friend’s homepage.
However, there are a few drawbacks too. Because of its advantages, it makes users distracted from their work. For instance, I turned my computer on to do homework, but when I turned on the computer I just wanted to drop by my homepage and see who have visited and left messages. I ended up spending more than an hour on checking my homepage and replying to messages. Moreover, when I upload files, it takes a lot of time. It consumes lots of time in decorating a photo which I want to post in my Cyworld and just in unloading. Furthermore, there is the number which stands for the number of visitors on the left corner, and this sometimes bother users. Because to some people this means the number of their friends, so if the number is low the user become depressed and feels like he has no friend. Not only that but also it suggest users to download a few system to listen music though Cyworld homepage.

Birthday party!!! ;)

It was my friend’s birthday.

I bought a cute purse for her.

I have not been to friend's birthday party for years, so I had good time.

Throughout my school years, I could not visit friend's birthday party, not because I was not invited, but because I did not have any enough spare time to visit.

I know that it sounds sad and pathetic. However, to students in Korea, there are not any another options they could choose.

There are many other advantages to be born in Korea, but I am sure that this is not the perfect place for raising children with healthy mental condition.

My life plan

Plan your days (years) to achieve your goal. Set up your career goal first and then design your life (study) plan for the coming 2020, 2016 and this year.

I don't have definite goal yet. However, I have a few options I can choose from; professor, diplomat, judge. Actually there was also working in UN but I thought that the reason for wanting to work in UN is not appropriate to pursue so I erase it from my options. And I choose professor as my goal.
I have to live my days to the fullest extent of my power no matter what my goal will be which means that I have to be super diligent.
So this is my plan for my goal.
First, I will get a good grade and get more than 105 marks in TOEFL tests.
Next year, I will transfer to London University. Then stay there for about a year and experience and learn a lot of thing from that place.
If I stick to my plan and do not mess up, I will end up graduate in 2016.
The year I graduate I am planning to enroll graduate school. I am not sure whether this graduate school will be in Korea or other country. But, what I do know for sure is that I will graduate school after college.
After I finish graduate school, I will keep study to get a doctoral degree.
To become a professor, I have to have a doctoral degree to be professional or an expert. It is much better if I get doctoral degree from monde anglophone country because if I study there, I would be good at English and experience a variety of cultures while I stay there.
Then, I would probably take a doctorate in 2020, the year when I become 29 years old.
This plan might seem really simple and easy. However I know that it is going to be really struggling to follow my plan and achieve my goal. My goal is quiet hard to get because not only professor is the job in demand but also there are a lot of required conditions to become a professor.

Th story I was the only one who didn't know.

This is the song I have been listening for days.

Kim yu na ; Scheherazade

The song's name is Scheherazade.
Whenever I watch this video, my heart beats really fast.
Isn't she so beautiful. It is not because of her appearence but because of her effort.
I hope you feel the same.

What would I be after 10 years?

Until now I have no idea what I want to be. I thought about it for quite a long time but nothing come up to my head. Everybody must have gone through this period; agonizing about their uncertain future.

Right now I am lost. All I can do is just follow the curriculum which has been already set up for me. However this is not my college life I imagined. I hoped that I would have a certain goal and pursue that goal. So at this point I am disappointed at myself. I thought I would be certain about my future so that I don't have to go through this hard time. Some would say that this is nothing compare to other troubles I will face but not knowing I am going to be really scares me.

Whatever job I choose it has to be helpful to others directly or indirectly. I like to be a leader. I don't care whether I have too many works to do. I just need a vacation time to time. I think I am good at making a fair judgment because for my entire life I try to make a judgment I will never regret. My motto is live a life you will never regret. I am also good at being a fair person. whenever there is a fight between friends I regulate their problem.

Therefore,I consider a few options what I'm going to be after 10 years later; Professor, working in UN, diplomat, judge.

First, professor is the job I consider as the most desirable job. I love teaching and I think I am good at teaching. I have more fun with grown ups than kids so university is the right place. Also I always want to be a mentor to someone. I don't really have to be a professor to be a mentor but definitely professor is the job that I can be a mentor to somebody. Plus, whenever I take the test which suggests the appropriate job, the jobs recommended for me mostly include professor. In deep down, I admit that being a professor is the best candidate but I still want to look for other choices so that I don't have to regret.

Second, Working in UN looks cool. I know that this sounds like a stupid reason but I really think this job is awesome. Working for entire world is every kid's dream. I want to be a peron who can help others and working in UN is the good job to make it come true. I heard that I would have tons of work to do if I work there. But I don't care. I always have been good at dealing with a lot of work. The only problem of working in UN is that there is a possibility I might have to leave my country and work in foreign country.

Being a diplomat is appropriate for me because I am trying hard to be good at English so I will be good at it after 10 years. Moreover, I am good at adjusting conflict between two parties so being a diplomat is suitable job for me.

The last but not least is becoming a judge. My father wants me to become a judge because he hope I would follow him. He think that I am quite fair in making a decision and I agree with this idea. I always try to a decision I will not regret so decision has to be the best choice. Since I was young he told me to become a judge who speaks very good English.

Hugh Laurie: the British accent vs the American

If you watch this video, you might not be able to stop yourself from laughing.

Students these days tend to really care their English teacher's pronunciation. They seem to believe that English teachers should pronounce just like a native speakers of English. What do you think about this belief? How would you react to this attitude (belief)?

I disagree with this idea.

The pronunciation is important in teaching because students are following what teachers do. If teachers pronounce English with wrong accents, there are high chance that students would imitate teachers' pronunciation. When students are more familiar with wrong pronunciation, they would have hard time fixing their pronunciation to the correct one. Therefore, it is important that teachers pronounce English like a native speakers of English.

However, in some way pronunciation is not that important if teachers are using listening materials. Pronunciation problem can be solved by teaching students with listening materials. After teachers teach students correct pronunciation, there will be no problem about teachers being role model of speaking to the students. It means that if teachers already taught students correct pronunciation with listening material, then students won't  confuse and make  same mistakes as teachers.

There are more important matters in teaching English to the students like grammar.  Being able to pronounce correctly is just additional ability to become a good english teacher. Without correct pronunciation, English teachers can teach students correct English. So I don't believe that English teachers should pronounce just like a native speakers of English.

March 25th

I had the anti-hepatitis inoculation (type A) today.
A week ago, I had the anti-hepatitis inoculation (type B).

I still don't aware of the importance of inoculation. My brother had the anti-hepatitis inoculation (type B) about 2 years ago. He had to go to the hospital three times to get the shot and paid quite a lot of money for it. However he doesn't have antibody. Moreover, I even had to draw blood to have an antibodies test of hepatitis A and B. Plus, I let nurse prick with a needle. I also have to visit again to get another shot. There is too much pain to bear. I could not even move the left side of my arm which had the shot.

But, I have no power over my body. Because according to my mom, she owns my body. So I have to do whatever she says. ( and this is not my own story. My brother has the same one. Open-mouth smile)

Qualitative analysis of your type formula
 You are:
• slightly expressed extravert
• slightly expressed intuitive personality
• moderately expressed feeling personality
• slightly expressed judging personality

Mostly I agree with the result.
I admit that I am not that sensitive enough to realize what is going on around me. It means that I am not that intuitive. I am the kind of person who would not even recognize boyfriend's cheat. (Or I might never have boyfriend because I won't be able to sense the boy's feeling and respond to it.)

I often express my feelings to people around me. When I am excited, I smile and shout for joy. I also have big reactions to any kind of news. I frown my face when I have pain or annoyed. If I got mad, everybody around me could tell that I am mad. I show my feelings automatically. I try not to do that but I cannot stop myself from doing it because when I get mad I lose control of my feelings. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that I get mad often. Lora who has been my friend for ten years said that she has seen me mad for once.

I believe that I have some judging personality. Judging personality means the person is punctual and has solid purpose and values. In addition, the person is systematic. I do not usually late for appointment. Rather I would be there 30 minutes before the appointment. Usually I am the one who plan and push forward with the plan. Moreover, I clean up the class room whenever I see it dirty even though I did not mess up the room.

However, I disagree with some part of the result because I am very extroverted. If you ask anyone of my friends whether I am extrovert or not, they will all say that I am the most extravert they have ever seen.

There are five different job fields I can choose; reporter, job counselor, teacher, nutritionist, and hotel manager.

To succeed I should clam down and try not to hurry. I also should give up on controlling every thing. And I should not be involve personality to every evaluation.

The teacher I want to be

Many think that teachers are only there for delivering knowledge to students. However that is not true. They not only give knowledge but also lead every student to become a whole person. In other words, teachers try to bring students to become a fine grown-up.

I want to be remembered as someone who gives advise through out students' life and is willing to help with any kind of problems to the students. It means I want to be a role model. Being a role model to students is very important because students have difficulties in defining what a good adult is. It means that students are in the process of growing into a man without direction so teachers should be there for them as a role model. Giving them someone to follow could help them to know what kind of person they should become.

I have a desire for being a teacher who can understand students. There are some tendency that students feel uncomfortable in front of teacher and assume that teacher would not understand them. This kind of thinking is common because most of teachers forget how their school life was like and repeat the same mistake they hated during their school years. For instance about 20 years ago teachers were considered as an untouchable being and this idea kept students from going close to the teacher. And now, the students who were afraid of their teachers become a teacher themselves with the same idea that teachers are unapproachable. The bad concept handed down for years. This have to be stopped right now for the sake of students and future teachers.

I know that I can't be a perfect teacher. However, I will use my utmost endeavors to be the one I dreamed in two ways. I'm not sure what kind of teacher I would be but as far as I can I will try to grow into someone who is exemplary to students and understands them.
